Please bring a hat, 2 liters of water, and sunscreen. There will be a lunch break in the field, so please bring your own food.

We will begin with a brief visit to the Qasr al-Yahud baptism site, and from there we will travel to the mouth of the Arrugot Stream, visit what was once Ein Gedi Beach, and walk along the shores of the Dead Sea.

During the walk, we will encounter various spectacular phenomena:

  • Sinkholes.
  • "Pearls.".
  • "Diamonds.".
  • Stalactites and more.

We will talk about the formation of the Syrian-African rift (what else?) that is responsible for the formation of the Dead Sea. We will discuss the drop in water level and the process of formation...
