Want to get to know a hidden Jerusalem neighborhood with picturesque luxury homes and buildings with an international flavor?

You are invited to Musarra with Uncle Bar Sela – in the most surprising and vibrant neighborhood of Jerusalem!

On the tour, we will touch on the story of the neighborhood as a luxurious Arab neighborhood from the late 19th century, with the story of the special negotiations it conducted with Ben-Gurion. 

We will pass among the luxurious Arab houses. And we will combine their story with the story of the international complexes.

We will see the unimaginable seam between the luxury homes and the ugly blocks. Built for new immigrants after the establishment of the state, we will tell the story of the neighborhood as a distressed neighborhood that over the years gave rise to the Black Panther movement.

Let's touch on the investment story. In the rehabilitation of the neighborhood with special projects such as "Youth in the Center."

Tour structure:

On the tour, we will touch on the story of the neighborhood as a luxurious Arab neighborhood from the late 19th century. Where prominent Arab activists lived over the years:

  • Ka'arf al-'Ar.
  • Dr. Tawfik Kanaan.
  • Musa Al-Alami.

 

With the story of the special negotiations he conducted with Ben-Gurion.

The story of the international complexes established in Musarra, such as:

  • St. Paul's Church.
  • The house of Shelbatiya.
  • The Italian Hospital.

 

We will tell the story of the War of Independence in the neighborhood that divided it in two between Israel and Jordan.

We will see the unimaginable seam between the luxury homes and the ugly blocks. Built for new immigrants after the establishment of the state.

We will tell the story of the neighborhood as a distressed neighborhood. Which over the years gave rise to the Black Panther movement.

We'll even visit an alley called "They're Not Nice.".

Finally, we will touch on the story of the investment in the restoration of the neighborhood with special projects such as:

  • "Youth in the Center."
  • The pre-military preparatory school.
  • Transforming the neighborhood into a unique art center with the "Multidisciplinary School of Art" and the "Ma'ale Film School."
