Carmeli Beach Art Tour
The Carmel coast is home to many artistic hubs, such as Maayan – a revitalized industrial area with culture, art, and community. There are artists' workshops in Ein Carmel and, of course, the artists' village of Ein Hod.

Tour structure:

In the print room, you can discover techniques such as lithography, litho = stone, graphy = print, printing on stone.

New techniques such as printing from recycled materials.

You can try your hand at engraving, choosing colors, and creating your own design, which can then be reproduced in multiple copies.

The entire place is an experience and a discovery of a lesser-known technique.

Eitan Cohen has been manufacturing water walls for over 30 years. What are water walls? Have you ever entered a designer space and seen a wall with small waterfalls flowing in a circle and making soothing sounds?

Eitan Cohen is constantly innovating and produces a wide variety of custom-made walls.

Ein Hod was founded by Marcel Janco, one of the world's most important artists. He was part of Cabaret Voltaire, which invented the global Dada movement.

Marcel moved to Israel and stopped his artistic activities in Europe. Thanks to him, we have Ein Hod and the Janco Dada Museum named after him.

Dadaism originated in Switzerland in 1916, an avant-garde art movement that calls for abstract art in paintings, sculptures, and any object we know.

Next to the Yanko Dada Museum is the Maabada, a wonderful place for children where they can produce and create works in the spirit of Dadaism.

Artists of all kinds reside in the artists' village of Ein Hod, including Dan Chamizer, Israel's champion riddle master.

The glasses he made at the entrance to the village were called "Itcha's glasses," named after Itcha Mambush, the legendary man who, together with Marcel Yanko, founded the village when it seemed that no one would want to live in a place with no infrastructure and no connection to a main road.

That same Itcha from Mambush was a man of action and practicality, and always saw the future through rose-colored glasses, with optimism.

A combination of the Carmel forests and beautiful streams near the village of Ein Hod with a visit to the village.

You can start the day with a trip to Nahal Hod, Bustan, or Ma'arat Azba, and then continue on to the artists' village of Ein Hod. Such a fun day can also end with a delicious meal in one of the surrounding communities on the Carmel coast.

At Ayala's studio, you can try your hand at glassblowing or enjoy a fascinating demonstration of Ayala at work in front of the hot furnace. She chooses colors and works her magic on the shape and texture of her glass.

The sculpture garden at Kibbutz Ein Carmel contains many sculptures by Dagan Shklovsky, which he created from basalt stone using only a hammer and chisel.

It is enjoyable to walk around the garden and observe the diverse and unique characters, attempting to understand what Dagan had in mind when creating them and what he intended to convey, and to learn about the many challenges involved in establishing and constructing sculptures of this magnitude.

Additional information and frequently asked questions

The Ein Carmel artists' workshops feature various types of artists: Mirla, who works with ceramics and also holds workshops in her studio; Nevoya, who sculpts and builds complex musical instruments; Anat and Shlomit, who blow glass; Miftah Ophir, who designs jewelry; and there is also a print studio, a carpentry workshop, an upholstery workshop, and much more.

It's worth coming, visiting, and taking an interest.

The artists are busy with their work, but they love to have guests.

Many of the galleries are open on Saturdays, and even the kiosk at the entrance to the village is open on Saturdays, offering excellent coffee, sandwiches, and handmade ice cream to round off your breakfast.

People always ask what to eat in Ein Hod.

There aren't many options, but they are delicious. There's Donia Rosa, a long-standing Argentinean steakhouse, the nearby Chucho pub, which serves mostly hamburgers, and the Figam restaurant, which is only open from Wednesday to Saturday and serves Mediterranean food and interesting mezze dishes.

Old chicken coops have been transformed into a place of inspiration.

It's worth coming and starting at the vegan coffee cart, continuing on to the surrounding arcade where you can find plenty of second-hand bargains, filling your basket to the brim with whatever you want, all for 50 NIS. Magical Midburn-style costumes and unique vintage items.

From there, continue on to Ayola's glass blowing workshops, Lola's amazing cardboard museum, Eitan's water fountain workshop, botanical illustration workshop with Netali at the "Something Else" studio, carpentry, pottery, and much more.

Let's start with a place that isn't a coffee cart, but is important because it has a long history on the Carmel coast. Café Zahara, in the heart of the artists' workshops in Kibbutz Ein Carmel, is open every day except Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and serves fresh and delicious food.

Karta Coffee Cart in Atlit (across from Flamingo, worth checking out!) – Tuesday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Friday until 1:00 p.m.

Manaz Coffee Cart – Open on Saturdays, located in Moshav HaBonim, where you can also find jachnun on Saturdays. For those who don't know, Manaz is a horse riding training ground.

The Cypress Cart in Ein Ayala, amazing bowls with acai, midweek in Ein Ayala, weekends at the Ofer Kerem Maharl intersection. (At the end of August, it was a delight at Nahsholim Beach!)

Masha Coffee Cart in Moshav Dor, open on Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and on Mondays from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

There are several cafés in Ein Hod, the most local of which is, of course, Yaniv's grocery store, which is open all week and is always a nice place to buy a handmade ice cream or order a coffee and sit and read the newspaper in the shade of the fig trees next to the store.

Another new café is open all week, called Container. It is located in Shira's ceramics studio, run by Shira and Sun, and maintains a very artistic and quiet atmosphere that suits the village.

Another option for coffee is at the Chucho Pub, which is usually open at night, but on Saturday mornings you can also enjoy sitting there, having breakfast or lunch, and drinking excellent hot or cold coffee.

The classic tour is about 2 km long, but it can always be extended or shortened.

There are some minor ups and downs, but they are minor.

No, but if you want to include a meal, you can arrange it in advance.

Outside the artists' village in the guest parking lot.

You can get there by bus, but it's easier to get to the village by private car.

The village has artists of all kinds, such as: ceramicists, painters, printmakers, jewelers, musicians...

Of course, we won't be able to get to know everyone, but we will get to know some of them.

The wonderful customers who were on the tour recommend!
