Discover the alleys of Nachlaot and the ultra-Orthodox neighborhoods of Jerusalem during Hanukkah: ancient menorahs, traditional stories, encounters with residents, and a bright experience for the whole family in the magical atmosphere of Jerusalem.
Every few years, Christmas coincides with Hanukkah, providing a double reason to visit Jerusalem. We will meet the Jerusalem Santa Claus at his home and discuss the motif of light and its connection to Hanukkah.
We will explore the differences in customs between the various communities and discover different types of menorahs, with the motif of light accompanying us throughout the tour. Of course we won't give up and we'll light the menorah!
We will absorb the holiday's imagery, hear about the evolution of the holiday over the years and its connection to Zionism, discuss the differences in customs between the various ethnic groups, and be exposed to different types of Hanukkah.
Throughout the tour, we will see the menorah lights outside the houses and through the windows, walk through the alleys and hear stories about communities, loves, a Sephardi orchard and more...
