A fascinating and thought-provoking cultural tour
Thursday evening (or as it's customary to say in the Haredi world: "Leil Shishi") is a very special time. Everyone is in the midst of preparations for Shabbat, and yeshiva students who stay up all night jump in to eat cholent. The news is always talking about the Haredim, but how well do we really know them? We will talk about the past, present, and future of Haredi society.
▶ Let's talk about leaving the walls.
▶ The Tomb of the Red Men of Gur.
◀ Shtiblah Zichron Moshe (synagogue with minyanim throughout the day).
◀ Houses of famous people: David Yellin, Yeshayahu Peres, Yair Stern.
◀ Hasia Soknik's kindergarten (the first kindergarten outside the walls).
Malchei Yisrael Street and Kikar HaShabbat (the Rothschild Boulevard of the ultra-Orthodox world).
◀ We will be impressed by the huge variety at the Geula Delicatessen.
An opportunity to eat cholent and kugel at the Cholent on the Roof restaurant.
◀ We will enter a tallit store and learn about the differences in Haredi clothing.
◀ We will stroll through the plazas of the most famous Haredi neighborhood.
◀ We will see the great study halls of the Hasidic faith: Slonim, Toldot Aharon, and more.
◀ The house of Eliezer Ben Yehuda.
◀ Ending at Safra Square - Jerusalem Municipality Hall.
And many more surprises..
